Roundtable: "How to attract the community to protect children's rights" in Horodenka Print

On the 11 of June 2010 in Horodenka a round table was organized on "How to attract the community to protect children's rights" which was attended by social pedagogues and practical psychologists of Horodenka school district, Ivano-Frankivsk region, government officials, clergy and journalists.

 

CF «Caritas Ivano-Frankivsk UGCC» with the support of Arsenij Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation program "Migration Today" started the project activity "Psycho-emotional and social work and with children of migrant workers".

 

The project is at the Department of Education Horodenka RDA. The main objective is to unite the efforts of local governments, local communities to ensure social reintegration and improvement of social security of  24 migrant children who found themselves in difficult life situations.

 

 

Nowadays quite relevant tasks in the areas of social security is to increase the social care of children of migrant workers and facilitate their adaptation to difficult life situations. Implementation of social support is aimed at providing psychological comfort, communication needs, prevention of negative environment impact. No less important is the motivation for learning, knowledge itself, the development of their abilities, needs and self-realization providing new social contacts that will improve the adaptation and socialization of children and adolescents

 

During the process of the participants had an opportunity to discuss the problem of "social orphans", ethical, psychological and social problems of children and their families and communities to focus attention on these problems. The roundtable participants familiarized with the work of education department of Horodenka RDA, the Centre for Psychological Services, CF «Caritas Ivano-Frankivsk UGCC», the district center of social services for families, children and youth in the provision of social and psychological assistance for children whose parents have been abroad long time.

 

Summarizing, we can say that these children - "risk group" that needs some special attention and care on the part of educators, social services, Caritas and the Church. And all further work should be aimed at meeting the needs of target groups, by combining the efforts of all partner organizations and agencies.
