It is difficult for a healthy, young, successful person to realize that in her or his life there can come a moment when she or her relatives get in difficult situations and need someone's support, assistance. Then in this situation, of course, we feel helpless and alone with our problems, and at this hard time we need someone to advise us, support, provide expert assistance at our homes. Because for each of us home is the only world that belongs only to us. Staying at home sick and weak promotes good health, both physically and psychologically, which positively affects the process of recovery and rehabilitation. Therefore, the activity of Information-Consulting Center of Home care is aimed at promoting and improving home care for relatives and guardians.
Thus, realizing a project by informational consulting center 3 educational and practical trainings for social workers in Tlumach RTC based on the patient compartment of residence of lonely, disabled people in v.Petriv and 2 trainings for social workers of Kalush RTC were held during November 2011.
A very interesting and informative training was "Features of displacing of seriously ill people during taking care of them, and use of aids care." Trainer demonstrated the technique of collecting and dismantling wheelchair, types of walkers, armrests. Especially important for guardians working with a person with special needs is the correct technique and movement overcome curbs, ramps, staircase, which requires a professional and safe approach, because the main thing is: do not hurt yourself and disabled person.
In order to give practical skills of care for shut-in people a training "Causes of pressure sores of the seriously ill people, their prevention and treatment" was held. Social workers in an accessible form have been told about the causes, symptoms and treatment of bedsores. During the training the stress was paid to the need for a comprehensive approach to prevent this disease, the use of improvised tools that help to eliminate pressure points from vulnerable places, to take care of skin, correct diet. Social workers, practicing on each other, had the opportunity to show and learn the plan of changing positions of the seriously ill people using improvised tools.
On a positive note, the lesson “Measurement of the vital indicators of the human body” was held. Organized training gave the participants an opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills in measuring blood pressure as well as to acquire new skills for glucometers. It is important for every social worker, who takes care of seriously ill people to give these services qualitatively, and warn the negative displaying chronic diseases.
No less interesting and useful was a meeting organized by Kudla Bogdana Myronivna “Chronic hypertension. Features of the disease, treatment and prevention of complications”. A therapist described the specifics of various chronic diseases, which people often suffer in old age and their possible complications. And we were glad that the meeting took place in the form of a dialogue, because the audience had a lot of questions about those health issues they worry about.
There was another a very important meeting of educational character “Peculiarities in the course of cardiovascular disease of the elderly people. Features of prevention of exacerbations and complications” organized together with a cardiologist Mykytynskyj Yaroslav. Workers of Information-Consulting Center made recording electrocardiograms for everyone of this training, and their colleagues gave them useful tips on treatment and prevention the negative manifestations of chronic diseases. During the training Yaroslav Ivanovych constantly emphasized that each patient or his relatives in case of health problems should immediately consult a doctor to prevent occurrence of various complications that can develop in the wrong care and self-treatment without any knowledge and skills.
Each teaching-practical training ended with an interactive discussion of regarding reasonable expectations and perception of subject classes. The majority agrees that all assistance should be, first of all, used rationally, and only in this case there would be a positive result from the work of a social worker. |
