On the 3^rd of December the whole world celebrates the Day of Disabled People. This year, with the support of the Executive Committee of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council and Ivano-Frankivsk City Social Centre of Services for Families, Children and Youth organized on the 2^nd of December the tenth-anniversary festival of creativity for children and young people with functional disabilities “Believe in yourself”. The participants of  this event were also young people of the CF “Caritas of Ivano-Frankivsk UGCC”.

During the festival the exhibition of works of people with disabilities was organized. A variety of different products represented by the grantees of the Center of adaptation and leisure for youth with intellectual disabilities impressed the audience with their beauty and professionalism. It turns out that postcards, icons, made by technology of tapestry (embroidery on the fabric), notebooks for cooks, jewelry from salted dough, fine bracelets from beads, wooden boxes, toys - confirm that young people with special needs are the same as usual people.

They studied these skills in Caritas attending professional workshops. And on stage, the youth presented a Ukrainian dance and song, “A Mother’s shirt is white, white ....” Preparation for the holidays took a long time, recent rehearsals, the excitement, a moment on the stage. The peculiarity of these people is that they always do everything openly and without hypocrisy. That was a holiday. At the end of this feast there was the awarding ceremony of diplomas and sweet gifts that reminded of the feasts that are coming.

Activities of such a kind open shroud of the “other” world of people whom society very often does not perceive, is afraid of them. And for these people it is a chance to feel that their feature is not a burden.
