The club of the elderly people "Nadvechir" continues its work aimed at improving the social status of elderly people - the victims of totalitarian regimes. This time, Caritas organized the first weekly meeting at the Kalush district center of social service. Previously, together with social workers a troublesome work was held to identify people - victims of totalitarian regimes. Communicating with each of them, Caritas worked with their memories, showed people's needs.
Old people accepted the information that such meetings should be held regularly with great pleasure. They are very surprising, that nowadays while someone else does not care about their problems, there is someone who wants to help a lonely weak person. Past experiences have affected both the physical and mental health of older people and that’s why they need help and support regularly.
The Famine of 1932-1933, is genocide of the Ukrainian nation, the greatest tragedy in the history of the Ukrainian people, it is the biggest crime of the communist regime against ethnic Ukrainian, who tried to get at least some food for the family, they mercilessly were killed and left on the street, not even allowed to be buried, so their souls could not find peace, we still feel the echo of their torments.
After tea they altogether watched "Golden September". Each of them immersed for a moment in those the worst times for Ukraine. All together, in tears, along with the heroes of the film they went through the years of adolescence. It is very good, that our youth today has a different time : warm, without hunger, with the internet. The main task of the older generation to teach young people is to remember the past of their people, and therefore, do not forget the fate of those who won with their own hands the most valuable - freedom and independence. Everyone has to realize that we have only Ukraine, and we Ukrainians are one nation. So let’s unite in the name of the coming day. And remember: the history of creation of our motherland, its present and future - the duty of every one of us!
